Since creating these images I have always wanted to show them in the degree exhibition. I have photoshopped this image to make it more effective, this way it looks like a whole piece and there are no white bits coming through.

I feel this piece has a very distinctive rythym and beat to it and is almost like a piece of music. The fact it plays with your eyes a lot still resembles my underlying theme of movement, especially the predominant yellow that sticks out the most.

I chose to hang these in the way I have at different levels so you are able to focus on each image as an individual. Without hanging them I wouldn’t of been able to acheive the shadows on the wall.

My petri dishes have not been planned where to go but made sure I scattered them in a way that resembles the cell imagery I have looked at. My frames are placed here in contrast in more of a formation against the abstract positioning of my drawings.

I chose to put these in the show as they have always been pieces of work that stood out. I edited all my scanned images and selected a few to put in the show. Again I framed these in black frames and they are 15x10 photos because I have alot of work on the wall I have strategically placed these on the floor underneath my hanging images.

You can see how my work has developped and become more sophisticated over a period of time.

Now time to plan what is going in the final show. These images...

This is another edit I have done yet again on photoshop, I made this because I have recently become interested in surface design after attending a textile competition. A lot of the things I have created I could see in textiles and therefore wanted to repeat images I have made to see a mass effect.

I then started to paint using the pixels themselves, building the images up on a canvas. I was happy with the results at first but started not to like them as it built up, I therefore chose not compete the image to the top. These are different to my ball imagery and require different methods to make them these are more interlocking whilst the circles are more free.

Even though I am happy with the results of the images on there own I put my other images underneath them to see what they look like.

I then decided to turn the images around and see what they looked like just plain white with the bits cut out. Because they look less busy it makes the viewer focus more on what the image is actually made out of and not the colours surrounding.

Due to the sucess of this image I decided I should use it more in my work. The cut out pixels here work well against the other more busier images. However in this case I wanted to focus on this image alone, without it losing its power through doing too much to it, as the image alone speaks for itself.

I did a series of these images, starting off with a smaller one working my way up to quite a larger scale, they worked well together but still the final product wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I think as I have done previously I though too much about this piece of work and over worked it. This was an idea I had for the final show.

Although the series worked well together it was still a bit samey and think the pieces needed other elements in them to get the most potential from them.

After noticing I needed to steer clear from balls a little bit…to add diversity to my work and to ensure it wasn’t too samey I looked at other elements of my work.

I therefore took full advantage of the fact my photographs had become quite pixelated, some more than others. I from then on based my work on this aspect of the pictures rather than the image of the sculpture itself.

These images are just the start of this process and aim to make them look more effective by doing different things with them.

These are another set of canvases at a different stage to the ones previously blogged. Again these are still not finished and have been made differently to the other ones. I am happy with these colours and think the zingy colours are good representations of cells.

The above images are of a larger scale and the ones below are smaller and more square. The images are at slightly different angles but the most ‘important’ parts of the pieces.
